Woolworth’s Diner set to reopen next month with block party on 19th Street

After several years of renovations, Woolworth’s Diner, a designated historic landmark, is set to reopen next month, officials announced in a social media post on Friday. A grand opening is set for Saturday, October 25.

The 75+ year-old building on 19th Street is set to reopen its doors to the public, including its popular lunchette, which sells hamburgers and milkshakes.

The building was bought in 2021 by Moneywise and is part of a downtown Bakersfield renovation project.

Ward 2 City Councilmember Andrae Gonzales said in April that the initiative is seen as a significant step in downtown revitalization, attracting new investments and businesses.
