EAST CLEVELAND, Ohio — East Cleveland Mayor Lateek Shabazz has fired Assistant Law Director Heather McCollough, the latest personnel change in what has continued to be a chaotic period at City Hall.
In a Friday afternoon press release, Shabazz’s team claimed McCollough had produced “seven years of unlawful service as a city prosecutor and a disturbing record of concealment, misconduct, and constitutional violations.” The mayor himself alleged McCollough “never lawfully entered the office of East Cleveland’s prosecutor” and “failed to take and file a valid oath of office as required by Ohio law and the East Cleveland Charter.”
