Charges dismissed against Alameda County sheriff’s deputies in jail suicide

Alameda County prosecutors have dismissed a case against two sheriff’s deputies who were charged with falsifying records related to a 2021 jail suicide.

The move on Sept. 11 marked the latest instance in which District Attorney Ursula Jones Dickson’s office dismissed a case against law enforcement officials filed under her predecessor, Pamela Price.

The felony charges against Sheri Baughman and Amanda Bracamontes in connection with Vinetta Martin’s death were dismissed because the deputies “were not criminally liable in their duties,” Jones Dickson said…
