More than 5,000 Dominion customers without power

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — More than 5,000 Dominion Energy customers were without power at one point Thursday evening, most of those concentrated near the East Ocean View and Tarrallton Park areas of Norfolk and in part of Newport News. As of 2 a.m., the outages were down to about 500 customers between the two area.

As of about 11 p.m., Dominion reported 3,037 customers without power, with more than 2,500 in Norfolk, due to power line damage and emergency work. Dominion said power in those areas was expected to be restored between 11 p.m. Thursday and 2 a.m. Friday.

More than 2,000 customers in Newport News were without power, also, mostly in an area along Route 17 between Interstate 64 and Route 171. Dominion says the cause is pending investigation. It estimated power restoration in that area to come between 1 and 4 a.m. Friday…
