El Paso tax collector addresses EP County’s claims for backlog following new Texas law

EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — El Paso County Tax Collector Assessor Ruben Gonzalez is addressing a backlog in title and registration transactions following the implementation of Texas House Bill 718 in July.

The new law requires licensed motor vehicle dealers to issue metal license plates to buyers at the time of sale and process title and registration.

Gonzalez claims the backlog is due to a lack of preparation and support from county leaders, stating, “The bottom line they ignored me. And if they say otherwise, that’s not true.”…
