LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – A Texas Tech student is making history as part of the Goin’ Band from Raiderland. Judith Johnson doesn’t feel a day over 30, but at 65 years old, she’s now the oldest member to don the scarlet and black uniform and take the field.
Johnson calls herself “one of the cool kids,” preparing to travel with the band to the Red Raiders’ next road game in Houston. While sitting at rehearsal, she reminisced on her last band trip, which was 48 years ago.
