1. Dairy Drive homeless encampment in Madison closed down

A permanent encampment for the unhoused in Madison closed Friday. All 29 residents of the tiny homes on Dairy Drive were told they needed to move out. The city plans to demolish the site in the coming weeks. City leaders said the decision ultimately came down to a lack of funding. The encampment was built in 2021 and funded in part by the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA).
