WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — Wichita police are equipping mental health professionals with body armor so they can safely respond to calls where people are in crisis.
At a press conference on Thursday, Wichita Police Department Chief Joe Sullivan presented crisis workers from Comcare — mental health professionals who are part of the department’s Integrated Care Teams — with new vest carriers intended to provide added protection and support as they respond to calls along with police officers.
