91-year-old man killed after train collides with car in north Alabama

A Hartselle resident died this week after his vehicle was struck by a train.

On Wednesday, just before 5 p.m., first responders arrived on Chestnut Street after receiving reports of a collision between an eastbound motorist and a northbound train.

The vehicle, driven by 91-year-old Franklin D. Turney, was struck by the train and pushed approximately 800 yards north of the crossing, making removal efforts challenging, according to a recent release…
