Louisville ends LDG lawsuit over Prospect development with multi-million dollar payout

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – After a years-long legal battle, the Louisville Metro Council has settled a lawsuit with LDG Development over the Prospect Cove project.

The settlement, signed on August 1, comes with a price tag of a little more than $6 million and a non-monetary stipulation that the Metro Council consider legislation that would change the county’s land development code (LDC). These changes directly tie into the process by which zoning changes are approved and the timeline affordable housing projects have to work within. Zoning approval was the phase at which time LDG’s development was voted down 14-11 by the Metro Council.

The zoning plan in 2017 included a 198-unit affordable, senior apartment complex. Critics argued the proposal did not suit the area, some saying it was much too large for the proposed site off of River Road. Others believed the infrastructure did not support the project, and there were concerns it could bring crime into the area…
