Arkansas food insecurity drives urgent need at Little Rock Compassion Center

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Officials with the Little Rock Compassion Center said Friday that the organization is facing severe food shortages as more residents seek meals.

Pastor William Holloway, executive director of the center, said the pantry shelves are nearly empty, and the center now serves nearly 800 meals a day.

According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, around 20 percent of Arkansas residents are considered food insecure, ranking the state last in the nation for food security.
