AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – Through the Future on the Line phone bank, Paine College students and community members spent Saturday calling Richmond County-area voters to make sure they were registered to vote—ahead of the October 6 deadline.
This comes after a recent voter purge that impacted hundreds of thousands of voters nationwide and thousands of voters in Richmond County.
You never realize what you have until it’s gone. And when the storm hit, everything changed.
So we want to make sure that everyone is registered to vote. We’re checking their status, making sure they’re good to go, and they know their polling location. So, they can exercise their right to vote,“ said Bri Jackson, organizer. ”Some of them know they’re not active voters, but the majority don’t.“…
