Special prosecutor to investigate Cuyahoga County Jail inmate death ruled homicide

CLEVELAND, Ohio— A special prosecutor will investigate the death of a Cuyahoga County Jail inmate, who died after she was restrained at MetroHealth.

Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Michael O’Malley appointed attorney Brian Kraft, a private defense attorney who spent 16 years as an assistant county prosecutor, to handle the investigation into Tasha Grant’s homicide.

The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner ruled Grant’s death a homicide and found that she died from being restrained in her hospital bed while suffering from congestive heart failure. Other contributing factors included heart disease, diabetes and obesity…
