Foodbanks, pantries feeling impact of cuts coming from state and federal level

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — Food banks and pantries across the Miami Valley are starting to feel the impact of cuts coming from the state and federal level. As the holidays approach, any pantries are worried about how they’ll have to adjust.

These are cuts not just being seen on the local level but across the country. Food banks and pantries said they aren’t worried about shutting down, but say it’s going to get much harder to help people in need.

The shelves and pallets at the Greene County Fish Food Pantry are emptier than normal. Shipments from local food banks have dwindled, and donations have become less frequent as families tighten the belt as inflation and food prices skyrocket.
