Whistleblower back at work amid Fayette County schools budget crisis

LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) — The whistleblower who warned her superiors about the Fayette County Public Schools budget crisis has been reinstated.

In a letter to Ann Sampson Grimes, obtained by FOX 56 News, Superintendent Demetrus Liggins says the leave has been lifted effective immediately.

Grimes, who works as the executive director of budget and financial planning, claims she told district leaders numerous times from February 2024 to August 2025 that budget cuts were needed.

She was placed on paid administrative leave on Aug. 15…
