Lagan Park Lake dredging set to cause park route changes—what we know

MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG)—The City of Mobile is dredging the lake at Lagan Park to create a better habitat for wildlife and improve recreation.

City officials believe that because of the improvements, drivers can expect some minor inconveniences before it’s all finished.

“A lot of the lake is only six inches in depth,” Director of Programs and Project Management, City of Mobile, Jennifer Greene said. “It causes a lot of issues, obviously, for stormwater retention and also for the ecological services that come out of the lake. And so by dredging it, we’re solving a whole host of problems.”

The dredging project will close Flournoy Drive. The parking lot on Ludlow Drive will also close…
