A 74-year-old Lady Lake man was detained for refusing to turn down his loud music.
A neighbor called 911 at 11 p.m. Saturday to complain about loud music coming from Paul Gordon Hardy’s home at 37326 Happy Lane, according to an arrest report from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office. The woman stated that loud music has been “an ongoing issue” and is played at such an “excessive level” that it makes it difficult for her and her children to sleep. She signed a sworn statement stating her willingness to have Hardy prosecuted.
A deputy approached Hardy, who originally said he would turn down the music, which the deputy characterized as “ice cream truck style music.” Rather than turning down the level, Hardy, who is 6 feet 3 inches tall and weighs 275 pounds, “began spewing profanities” and remained in his front yard, shining a flashlight into the road.
