Proposal to cut trees at Lodi’s Legion Park sparks questions

LODI, Calif. — A proposal in Lodi to remove several trees at Legion Park is raising concerns.

Neighbors said the trees line the west and north sides of the park, providing shade for homes and possibly shelter for owls.

“A number of the trees, especially on the west property line and the north property line, are getting to the point where they’re getting aged and trees have a life expectancy,” said Steve Dutra, president of the nonprofit Tree Lodi. “The ones (the city is) looking at for potential removal—about 30 from what I understand… They have been doing limb failure events, and some of them have caused power outages.”…
