Lucas County cuts ribbon on new $31.9M Canine Care & Control building in Toledo

TOLEDO, Ohio — Lucas County officials cut the ribbon Friday on a new $31.9 million Canine Care & Control building, marking the completion of a yearslong project aimed at improving animal welfare services.

The 39,300-square-foot facility at 1301 Monroe St. will officially open to the public on Oct. 4, at 11 a.m.

The new center includes 177 kennels, an adoption wing, an intake wing and nearly 8,000 square feet of outdoor space. It is designed to enhance care for dogs, support adoption and foster efforts, and offer a more comfortable experience for visitors and animals alike…
