Miriam, owner of New Elements Gallery on Front Street in downtown Wilmington, discovered a powerful intersection between art and wellness—one that’s reshaping her business and building community. What began as a personal health journey has evolved into a unique model that brings together art lovers and wellness seekers in a thoughtfully curated gallery setting.

A Wilmington Journey from Health Scare to Holistic Vision Three years ago, elevated blood pressure and high sugar levels prompted a simple, repeated question at doctor visits: do you meditate? That nudge led Miriam to explore yoga and, ultimately, to complete her 200-hour yoga teacher certification this summer—often balancing all-day training with gallery openings. The result is a renewed sense of purpose and presence that now informs how she curates exhibitions, supports artists, and serves the Wilmington community.

Local Roots: Training and Community Service Miriam trained with respected local instructors Brian Luce and Jackie DeConti at Terra Sol studio and completed a Seva (service) project by hosting a free yoga class at New Elements Gallery. Curator Georgie Anastasi redesigned the back gallery space around artist Jean Gray Mohs’ work specifically for the event, a format that has continued with other artists and shows how intentional design can support both movement and mindfulness…
