The latest incident occurred late Thursday night when a group of scooter riders reported a sighting of a body in the Buffalo Bayou near Commerce Street and Milam Downtown. Houston’s dive team subsequently recovered the female body, whose identity remains a mystery. In reported statements by CW39 and KHOU, officials urge the public to withhold speculation as the cause of death has yet to be determined.
The string of discoveries has naturally led to growing concern among Houstonians, with social media users quick to suggest a pattern indicative of a more nefarious backdrop. However, Mayor John Whitmire and Police Chief J. Noe Diaz Jr. have been quick to allay fears, with the Mayor stating at a news conference, “I do say enough is enough on speculation, out of respect for the families and also the 2.3 million Houstonians in our region.
