NORTH LOUP, Neb. (KOLN) – The Davis Creek Recreation Area is a popular spot for those who are looking to experience some peace and quiet, and a chance to enjoy Nebraska’s natural world.
We caught up with Russell Callan to talk about this unique location. He is the General Manager of the Lower Loup Natural Resources District. “Davis Creek Recreation Area is part of the Twin Loups Irrigation District and Bureau of Reclamation Irrigation Project. The Lower Loup NRD just has management of the recreation area itself. We have a great partnership with the Bureau of Reclaimation and the Twin Loups Irrigation District. We lease the recreation property from the Bureau of Reclaimation, to manage it. So, we are partners with them on a lot of what happens here. Also, the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission provided some grant money to get a boat ramp and cleaning station here.”
Callan says there are 74 campsites at Davis Creek Recreation Area, and they all have electricity. “You can get online to reserve them, but about half of the campsites are walk-up only,” Callan said. “The lake itself is managed by the irrigation district. We don’t manage the water, just the recreation area itself.”…
