1. Cuts to grant funding at the federal level have impacted local artists and arts organizations. In what ways can city government step up to better financially support New Orleans arts and culture?
As a councilmember, I will advocate for dedicating a portion of the city’s budget to a Local Arts & Culture Fund that directly supports artists, musicians, and small cultural organizations in District D and across New Orleans. I believe we must create stable, recurring city funding to supplement declining federal grants. I also support stronger public–private partnerships with local businesses, foundations, and tourism organizations to ensure artists are fairly compensated for the culture they generate that drives our economy…
