When is Denver’s first freeze? Meteorologists think it could come soon

DENVER (KDVR) — It’s still in the 70s and even 80s toward the end of September, but the first freeze in Denver isn’t too far away.

When is the first snow expected in Denver?

Over the past few years, the first freeze has been as early as Sept. 8 in 2020 and as late as Oct. 25 in 2024. It was particularly late in 2024 since it was an unseasonably hot fall. This year, the Pinpoint Weather team expects the first freeze around mid-October.

When will it freeze in Denver?

Pinpoint Weather Meteorologist Travis Michels said he expects the first freeze to occur within the next two to three weeks. Michels said the freeze could come by Oct. 15 through Oct. 17, which is slightly later than the average.
