Violence struck close to home for the Morrisania community in the Bronx when a 17-year-old boy fell prey to a shooting near a playground on E 169th St & Washington Ave, and within the Morrisania Houses public housing complex. The incidents, which unfolded late Friday night, left the community grappling with the reality of gun violence at their doorstep. According to ABC7 New York, the teen was shot in the hip, with emergency services responding to the scene before 11 p.m.
Further, the AM New York reported the occurrence of a second shooting incident, involving a 17-year-old boy at the Morrisania Houses. It was approximately 10:50 p.m. when officers from the 42nd Precinct encountered the wounded teen, bearing the mark of a gunshot in his right hip.
