Orlando Man Arrested After High-speed Pursuit Through Polk County In Stolen Kia

A high-speed pursuit involving a stolen vehicle on Thursday night resulted in a successful police maneuver and the arrest of an Orlando man on multiple criminal counts, according to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.

The incident began about 10:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 25th, when a deputy noticed a stolen 2021 Kia Forte driving west on I-4 near Champion Gate. The police had reported the vehicle stolen from Orlando the previous day, September 24th.

The PCSO Aviation unit, operating in a helicopter, alerted additional law enforcement units and joined the pursuit. Deputies attempted a traffic stop on the stolen Kia once it reached the Polk Parkway, but the driver allegedly sped dramatically, reaching speeds of around 120 mph to get away…
