Petition seeks to block re-zoning request to build gas station in South Highlands

SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS)- Shreveport residents are opposed to the rezoning of property located at the southwest corner of Kings Hwy and St. Vincent Mall Ave.

They have started a petition to submit to the Shreveport Metropolitan Planning Commission and city officials, requesting that they stop the rezoning and prevent a 24-hour Murphy USA from being built in front of their neighborhood. They are concerned about increased traffic, potential environmental impacts, and the impact on their property values.

Charlotte Russell with the Highland Neighborhood Association said they oppose the rezoning for a gas station for many of the same reasons, with a primary concern being loitering.
