ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Hundreds of volunteers showed up to Balloon Fiesta Park Saturday to take part in the annual Fiesta Fanatics Cleanup Event. One of the state’s largest events is just days away, and city workers and volunteers are making sure Balloon Fiesta Park is in tip-top shape for the festivities.

“We have a number of people out in the community today doing a bunch of service projects. That’s happening in partnership with ImagineABQ, they’re empowering people to go out and make a difference today. It’s a day of service across the city. Our neighborhood cleanups are also doing some weed removal. We got some weed removal here. We’re focusing mainly on the debris, but really, the goal is to beautify,” says Alex Bukoski with the Solid Waste Management Department.
