HUEYTOWN, Ala. – Dog lovers and their furry friends gathered for the 7th Annual Paw Palooza & Wiener Dog Races on Sunday. The event, held at Hueytown City Park, was a free community celebration open to well-behaved, leashed dogs and their humans.
The highlight of the day was the wiener dog race, where the fastest Dachshunds competed for the top dog title. Winners of each heat raced for the championship, with the victor standing proudly on an Olympic-themed platform. Following the main event, “wanna-be” wiener dogs of all breeds and sizes had their chance to shine.
The Paw Palooza offered a variety of activities, including a hot dog eating competition, a “Strut Your Mutt” pet parade, and contests for best costume and best trick.
