The City of Charleston continues to monitor the tropical system off the Southeast coast. Current forecasts show the storm turning east before reaching our area, which should minimize impacts to the Charleston region.
Even with the track shifting, residents can expect periods of heavy rain beginning Monday evening and continuing through Tuesday evening, with totals of 2–4 inches possible.
Operational updates:
- Sandbag operations will conclude today, Sunday, September 28, at 5 p.m. Sandbags are available on a self-serve basis at the following locations until that time:
- Hampton Park (Peninsula): Parking lot by the ball field — Mary Murray Dr @ Ashley Ave
- Bayview Soccer Complex (James Island): 1051 Fort Johnson Rd — pickup in back lot
- Catholic Diocese Site (West Ashley): 1662 Ingram RdPlease bring your own shovel if possible. Quantities are limited; be considerate of neighbors.
- Storm parking garage openings are delayed until Tuesday and may not be needed, depending on future forecasts. Updates will be provided as conditions become clearer.
