Some local storm preps relaxed as Imelda’s track shifts

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – Some municipalities began scaling back storm preparations Sunday as model data show fewer local impacts from Tropical Storm Imelda due to a forecast track well away from the coast.

The City of Charleston will not distribute sandbags Monday and it will delay opening some of its city-owned garages for free storm parking, a city official told News 2. Those plans could be put into action Tuesday if needed.

“Crews remain at work clearing drains, staging barricades, and monitoring low-lying areas. The city will adjust resources as needed should conditions change,” the city said…
