CORRALES, N.M. (KRQE) – After months of tireless campaigning, the Village of Corrales is now saying “oink” to their newest pet mayor. Apple the Mini Pig won the coveted title of Pet Mayor on Sunday morning at the Corrales Harvest Festival.
Apple beat out big names like Riley the Dog, Clover the Donkey, and a senior candidate named Taz. “That will leave our final candidate.. I’m so proud to announce that your 2025 pet mayor is Apple, Apple the Mini Pig, won the tight race against Riley and Clover,” said a Corrales official.

“He came in fourth, and that made him a judge, and again, we think there was too many dogs and the dog ticket was split. We think we could’ve had a better strategy there. Maybe next time, Taz,” said Steve Forrest, Taz’s owner.
Apple is taking the position over from Chico Suave, the Miniature Horse. There was also a costume contest for the candidates and their humans…
