Coroner identifies 15-year-old killed in east Bakersfield shooting

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A 15-year-old boy who was shot and killed in east Bakersfield Friday night has been identified by the Kern County Coroner’s Office.

Jacob Jesus Hernandez, 15, of Bakersfield was shot at 11:42 p.m. Sept. 26 in the area of Morning and Highland Knolls drives, according to the coroner’s office. He was taken to Kern Medical, where he was pronounced dead around 30 minutes after the shooting.

Another teen, a 16-year-old boy, was taken to the hospital after also getting shot at the scene, according to the Bakersfield Police Department. He suffered minor injuries.
