STUART – The Stuart Police Department has made an arrest on a fraud case that scammed a local Martin County resident.
According to SPD, the resident was scammed out of hundreds of thousands of dollars in Bitcoin, gift cards and cash. Posing as Federal agents, the scammers threatened the victim with fake criminal charges unless they paid money to the scammer.
On Sept. 24, a joint sting operation between detectives from Stuart and Manatee County tracked a suspect vehicle near 2060 Federal Highway after the scammers arranged for a $40,000 cash pick up…
