A new movie is coming out on Christmas Day about a tribute band in Wisconsin, and it features a couple of big stars.
Neil Diamond Tribute From Milwaukee Is The Subject Of A New Movie
When my friends and I turned 21, we started going out and partying in Chicago a lot. We had our favorite bars and clubs to hang out at. There were a couple of local bands that we would go see quite a bit. It’s funny because we were all Rock fans, but there was a group we used to go see every once in a while.
It was a Milwaukee band that did a lot of shows in Chicago. They were called “Lightning and Thunder.” It was a Neil Diamond tribute band. It was a married duo. The husband had the stage name Lightning, and his wife was Thunder. Back when we used to go see them, she did a lot of ABBA for their shows. For this movie, it was Patsy Cline.
This definitely wasn’t our normal scene, but we were young and a lot of girls would go to their shows. Everywhere they played was packed. Their shows were actually a lot of fun. One year, I went to Milwaukee Summerfest to see Pearl Jam. During the middle of their set, out walked Lighting, and he did a Neil Diamond song with the band.
