SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) — Former banker Russell Laffitte has been sentenced to five years in federal prison after pleading guilty to multiple charges, officials announced Monday.
Former CEO at Palmetto State Bank, Laffitte pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit wire fraud and bank fraud, wire fraud, bank fraud and three counts of misapplication of bank funds.
Laffitte was a co-conspirator to Alex Murdaugh, the Lowcountry attorney who was found guilty in the deaths of his wife and son, a Department of Justice (DOJ) spokesperson said…
