‘Save Anthony Boyd’: New Montgomery billboard calls on halting next state execution

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) – Drivers in the state capital may have noticed a new billboard with the words ‘Save Anthony Boyd’ in bold, white letters. It’s in protest of a scheduled execution set for October.

Anthony Boyd has sat on death row since 1995. He was convicted as one of four men responsible for the 1993 killing of Gregory Huguley in Talladega.

“If you’re going to kill people, at least have the decency to know who they are,” said Rev. Jeff Hood, priest and founder of the Execution Intervention Project. “At least have the decency to know their names.”

Rev. Hood said Boyd’s case is more complicated. He raised concerns about whether Boyd is guilty, and he said his behavior behind bars has been exemplary…
