Fort Worth considers offering incentives to lure European manufacturing facilities to the city

FORT WORTH, Texas — Fort Worth City Council will vote tomorrow to provide Alcon, a European medical manufacturing company, with a tax incentive to bring two new manufacturing facilities to the city.

If the economic development agreement is approved, the city would provide annual grants totaling no more than $6 million, according to a mayor and council communication. In exchange, Alcon would agree to invest $186 million in two product lines, creating 241 total new full-time jobs with a minimum annual salary of $75,000.

The Swiss company’s U.S. headquarters are located in Fort Worth, and the company is already a major employer for the city, according to reporting from the Dallas Business Journal.
