Deadly fight at Salvation Army in Lubbock leads to guilty plea

LUBBOCK, Texas — Devin Dunlap, 39, pleaded guilty on Monday morning to Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon in connection with the 2022 assault at the Salvation Army that killed Sergio Sigala, 55. He was sentenced to 20 years in prison.

EverythingLubbock.com previously reported on January 30, 2022, officers were called to the 1600 block of Avenue J just before 1:00 p.m.

The Lubbock Police Department said an investigation revealed Sigala and Dunlap were in an argument when Dunlap struck Sigala, causing serious injuries. LPD said Sigala was taken to University Medical Center by ambulance and pronounced dead.
