The victims in a fiery crash that killed two people September 19th on the edge of Pontoon Beach have been identified. 47-year-old Jody Rinderer and 32-year-old Victoria Goss, both of Granite City, were in separate vehicles when they hit head-on on a stretch of Illinois State Route 162 between 255 and 157.
According to the Madison County Coroner’s office, the crash happened at 7:36pm when the two vehicles collided. Rinderer’s truck burst into flames after the crash and was identified via tattoo. He was the only occupant of that vehicle. Goss was conscious and taken by ambulance to the Gateway Regional Medical Center emergency room, where she died. A juvenile passenger in the vehicle was transferred to a hospital in St. Louis. Their condition is currently unknown……
