2 injured during apartment fire in Third Ward, arson team investigating cause

HOUSTON – Two people were injured after a fire broke out late Sunday night at an apartment complex in Houston’s Third Ward.

The flames ignited a little after 11:15 p.m. in the 3700 block of Tuam Street, where Houston Fire Department (HFD) crews were called to reports of a fire. When firefighters arrived, they found a four-unit apartment building with heavy flames from the second floor and concerns that the fire was spreading to a nearby building.

HFD said they mounted an aggressive attack and brought the fire under control within 15 minutes, despite a brief delay caused by a broken hydrant at the scene…
