Portland Suspect Charged with Attempted Murder After Alleged Assault on Police Officers

A suspect in Portland is facing multiple charges, including attempted murder, after allegedly trying to seize an officer’s gun during a confrontation last weekend. Bo W. Davis, 43, was booked into Multnomah County Detention Center on multiple charges, including robbery, assaulting a public safety officer, menacing, and dealing with an outstanding warrant, as per a Portland Police Bureau release.

The incident, which triggered a deadly force investigation, transpired yesterday, when Portland Police officers, following up on a “Threat with Weapon” call, encountered Davis, who was reportedly striking vehicles with a metal pole. After an initial search that turned up empty without any victims coming forward, updated information led officers to Oregon Park, where they located the suspect. A violent altercation ensued as Davis allegedly attempted to remove an officer’s firearm from its holster. The police responded to the situation, and two officers were injured: one suffered a hand injury and another incurred a head injury during the scuffle.

During the intense struggle, lasting close to seven minutes, an officer applied a neck hold to subdue Davis. Preliminary reports indicate that the suspect did not lose consciousness, nor did he seem to sustain any critical injuries.
