ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – Air traffic control in and around Anchorage will likely be updated soon, as the FAA has proposed substantial changes to the airspace.
The impetus for the proposal is the extension runway 16 / 34 on Joint Base Elmendorf Richardson, a project that has been underway since 2018. The United States Air Force (USAF) 3rd Wing also plans to designate runway 16 as it’s “primary arrival runway.”
