HPD opens negligent homicide case in Haleiwa crash that killed 21-year-old

HALEIWA, Oahu (KHON2) — The Honolulu Police Department has opened a negligent homicide case following the death of 21-year-old Koali Denning-Ring, who was killed on Wednesday, Sept. 24, while driving to work.

Man, 42, killed in Kauaʻi hit-and-run

According to police, a 58-year-old man was driving a work vehicle when he crossed the center lane on Joseph P Leong Highway and hit three vehicles.

One of those vehicles was Denning-Ring’s. Police said he was thrown from the vehicle and died at the scene. Although the case remains under investigation, police do believe Denning was wearing his seatbelt at the time.

Denning-Ring, originally from Ewa Beach, had been dating his girlfriend, Kaylie Harrison, for about four years. The two of them have a two-year-old daughter and loved ones say Koali had been spending most of his time on the North Shore recently…
