Cohoes homicide suspect pleads not guilty

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — 53-year-old Anthony Bechand appeared in court on Monday afternoon. He is accused of killing his girlfriend, 41-year-old Amanda Rodriguez, who was found stabbed to death inside her Cohoes home on September 14th. Bechand is facing multiple charges, including second degree murder, burglary, and tampering with physical evidence. He has pled not guilty to all charges.

After her body was discovered, police said Bechand fled and abandoned his truck in Franklin County. A massive 12-day manhunt followed before he was taken into custody. He was spotted walking along Rt 86 near Paul Smith’s college.

In court, Bechand stood quietly as the charges were read. His family was present in court, and they appeared emotional and supportive. One family member yelled “I love you” as Bechand was taken out of the room.

The judge also issued 5 orders of protection to the victim’s family and others involved in the case.

Bechand remains in the custody of the Albany County Sheriff. His next court date will be a plea conference and is scheduled for November 7…
