Michigan issues warning to those making fake threats after Grand Blanc shooting

After a flurry of threats to schools across the state, Michigan has released a warning about making false and copycat threats.

One day after the shooting and fire at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Grand Blanc, Michigan, there were multiple bomb threats made across the state to schools around Grand Rapids, Lansing and the Thumb region. This has led Michigan to issue a warning about the severe penalties for those who make such threats.

“In the wake of the heartbreaking events in Grand Blanc, the last thing our communities need is fear and disruption from copycat threats,” Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel said. “Threats of violence cost local communities tens of thousands of dollars and can put law enforcement at risk. Whether made with the intent to harm or as pranks, they are real crimes with very real consequences.”…
