Massive Recall Hits State Fair Corn Dogs Across Texas

With the Tri-State Fair fresh in everyone’s mind here in Amarillo, we find ourselves still craving a lot of those fair foods. Deep-fried candy bars, funnel cakes, and any kind of food on a stick. These are the staples of what we chase at the fair.

Sadly, once the fair shuts down, we lose access to some of these foods. Others you can find in the freezer section at your grocery store, and a couple of others you can make at home if you have the patience and know-how to do it.

Foods On A Stick Experience Massive Recall In Texas

One of the things that is easily accessible outside of the fair are foods on a stick. You can make your own chicken on a stick easily, but corn dogs are an absolute staple of any fair, but now you may have some in your freezer that aren’t safe to consume.

Hillshire, the maker of Jimmy Dean and State Fair products, has said that over 58 million pounds of food on a stick are being recalled due to the potential for wood to be in the items. Yes, these items are on a little stick of wood, I get it, but they’re talking about this wood essentially becoming an ingredient in the food.

What Items Are Being Recalled

So the list is long and extensive as to which items are being recalled. The list I saw had a whopping 26 items that were listed in the recall, so there is a good chance if you have a box of anything Jimmy Dean or State Fair that includes a stick in your freezer, it’s been recalled…
