Three people arrested after alleged cockfighting operation blocked following Kendall County search warrant

Three people have been arrested as part of a lengthy investigation into claims of violations of the Animals in Entertainment Act, according to the Kendall County Sheriff’s Office. Over 400 gamefowl and chickens were seized during a search warrant executed at a property in the 0-1000 block of Vilmin Road in Little Rock Township on Thursday.

The investigation into the alleged violations began in August. As part of the investigation, 37-year-old Manuel Alarcon of Plano, 46-year-old Yanina Alava of Plano, and 37-year-old Alejandro Alavarez of Aurora were taken into custody. Alarcon, Alava, and Alavarez are facing several charges of violating the Animals in Entertainment Act, including owning, training, and breeding animals for sport fighting.

The three suspects were taken to the Kendall County Jail in Yorkville and released following their initial hearings on Saturday. The animals were evaluated and transferred to rescue operations where possible. The case is under further investigation…
