Lawmakers hear emotional testimonies from victims of violent crime in North Carolina

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — House Judiciary Subcommittee lawmakers at Monday’s hearing heard testimonies from victims and family members of people affected by violent crime.

That included a Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police officer involved in the Shannon Park shooting in April of 2024.

There was passion, anger, and sadness in the messages from the people who addressed lawmakers Monday morning. Several of them shared their personal experiences with crime in and around the Charlotte area. There was a common theme in each of the testimonies — something needs to be done to keep repeat offenders off the streets…
