YMCA of Lincoln launches fifth annual winter coat drive for People’s City Mission

LINCOLN, Neb. — As the cold Nebraska winter looms, the YMCA of Lincoln is once again rallying the community to help those in need through its fifth annual Winter Coat Drive. From Oct. 1 to 21, 2025, all four Lincoln YMCA branches will collect new or gently used coats to benefit People’s City Mission. Since the drive began, nearly 11,000 coats have been distributed, thanks to the generosity of YMCA members and the Lincoln community.

Community members who donate will receive a free one-week “Try the Y” pass, valid through Dec. 31, 2025. Current YMCA members who donate will be entered into a drawing for a free Lincoln Y membership for 2026.

“As temperatures drop, the need for warm clothing becomes critical for those without stable housing,” said Renee Yost, president & CEO of the YMCA of Lincoln. “Our annual coat drive is one way we can extend care and compassion to our neighbors in need. We’re grateful for the continued generosity of our community and proud to once again partner with People’s City Mission to help bring warmth to those who need it most.”…
